Lacking Confidence? Here’s How To Deal With It

It can be incredibly difficult to hold your head up sometimes. Lack of confidence and self-esteem affects everyone at some point in their lives. There are a lot of reasons you might have low confidence levels, this can be anything from an abusive relationship to struggling to accept yourself. The good news is there is help out there for you if you are suffering. Remember, don’t suffer in silence, a problem shared is a problem halved. Take a look below to find out how you can manage and get your confidence levels back up to where they belong.

Be Positive

The first one is probably the one that seems the most impossible at this moment. Being positive will have a huge impact on your self-esteem and confidence levels. All it takes is speaking highly of yourself, either in front of the mirror or just so you can hear yourself. How about this, when you are getting ready for the day ahead, say something positive to yourself. It won’t take long and you will start to not only believe it but see it as well. Things such as I am beautiful or I am strong. This will get you through the day and you will reach the light at the end of the tunnel.

Visit The Hairdressers

If you believe your lack of confidence is due to your hair then there are many remedies for this. It can be common if you are busy or a mum perhaps to skip the daily hair routine. However, that can lead to breakages and hair being forgotten about. It is recommended you visit the hairdresser once every six weeks for a tidy up and a trim. This keeps your hair healthy and prevents split ends and unhealthy hair.

However, there may be a deeper-rooted issue with your hair and that could be that you are noticing it thinning. This can cause immense levels of stress as nobody wants to lose their hair. The good news is there are treatments out there that can improve hair loss and thinning. Be aware that there are different treatments for men and women. Women can use shampoos and pills such as Minoxidil and men can take Finasteride tablets to fight thinning and balding.

Go Shopping

Your confidence and self-esteem could stem from not liking your appearance and clothing. This can be easily rectified by dressing in clothes that suit your figure. If you have a few curves then you may be reluctant to dress your curves. However, when you see them in the right outfit you will fall in love with yourself and your figure. Take a trip to your local store and see if there is anything that catches your eye. You might also benefit from the help of a personal shopper, they will know the outfits you will suit down to the ground. Of course, there is no pressure to buy any outfit they choose for you.

Speak To Someone

If you think your confidence issues are due to something that happened in your past or something that you simply can’t let go of then you may need to seek professional help. If you have exhausted all other methods of finding your confidence, a counselor or therapist may be able to help. You will be given the chance to talk as much as you need about whatever you want to. There will never be any judgments from a therapist, it is all confidential as well so it will never leave the office. Hopefully, after a few sessions, you will be able to let go of your burdens and feel more like yourself.

Morning/Night Routine

You might be suffering from bad skin complaints, this could be the cause of your lack of confidence and self-esteem. You don’t have to suffer from this forever, it may be due to your hormones. Try cleansing your face every morning when you wake up and every evening before you go to bed. Getting yourself into healthy facial habits and routines will hopefully clear your skin. Try over-the-counter methods first before resorting to professional help, there are pills and lotions out there but they can have extreme side effects.

Remove Toxicity

If you find yourself surrounded by people who don’t appreciate you then you may be used to hearing negative words about yourself. This isn’t fair and you don’t need to be around it. Take yourself away from the situation and say a permanent goodbye to any toxic people in your life. You may not realize that’s what you need to do, but your mental health and your well-being will thank you for it.

Visit Professionals

If there is something you see in a negative way, such as your teeth then there are things you can do to fix the issues. If you struggle with your teeth then make an appointment with a dentist. It can be extremely frightening sitting in that dentist’s chair but they are there to help you. If you need fillings or even implants then they will do what they feel is best for you. If it is money woes that are holding you back from attending the dentist regularly then you can get insurance that will cover any dentistry you need. A lot of dentists also offer payment plans so there is that option open to you as well.

Accept The Compliments

Finally, when people say nice things about you, believe them. They are not just saying it for the sake of it, why would they? If you ever doubt the compliments, ask yourself why would they? This should jolt you back to reality and back to those amazing compliments that you are receiving. We are not born to reject compliments, human beings thrive off praise and niceness. You have taught yourself not to believe them because of the perception you have of your own body. Don’t believe what is staring back at you in the mirror, other people see you differently and how you should be seen.
