Planning a trip to Alcúdia on the island of Mallorca, Spain? Great choice! With it’s blend of history, nature, beaches and local life, there’s a lot to explore.
In August we went to Alcudia, Spain for 8 nights and stayed at Club Mac Resort & Park. Alcúdia is a town in the north of the Spanish island of Mallorca (Majorca). It’s known for its Mediterranean beaches, which include the busy Platja d’Alcúdia and Platja de Muro on the sweeping Alcúdia Bay. The neo-Gothic Sant Jaume church is built into the town’s restored medieval walls. These walls encircle the well-preserved old town, which has narrow streets and centuries-old buildings.
Here are six of the best places to visit while you’re there, each one offering something a little different.
1. Old Town of Alcúdia

Wandering through the walled old town is a must. The town features impressive medieval and Renaissance walls and gates, gorgeous narrow streets, cafes tucked away and historic charm around every corner. It gives you a quieter, more authentic feel than just the beach resort area. We suggest to visit early in the morning to enjoy it before it gets busy.

Just outside Alcudia’s old town you’ll find the remains of the ancient Roman settlement of Pollentia. There’s a theatre, forum and residential areas to explore. For a historic atmosphere and something a little different from sun and sand. Recommend bringing water and good walking shoes as the site is outdoors and gives a sense of the scale of Roman life.
3. Playa de Alcúdia & Nearby Beaches

This is one of the major draws with it’s wide sandy beach, shallow turquoise waters, great for families or relaxing days.
Whether you want to sunbathe, swim, or just walk on the shore, it’s a very accessible beach spot and is just beautiful.
4. Parc Natural de s’Albufera

A beautiful natural wetland reserve just outside Alcúdia, offering peaceful walks, bird watching opportunities and a chance to connect with nature away from the resort buzz. It’s a contrast to beach life and gives a slower, nature filled experience. Bring binoculars if you enjoy bird watching, the light is nicer earlier or later in the day for photos.
5. Alcúdia Market (Tuesdays & Sundays ONLY)

A lively market setting where you can pick up local produce, handicrafts, souvenirs and enjoy the atmosphere in the old town. It’s a fun way to experience local life, find unique items and stroll through town at your own pace. Recommend arriving early for the best selection and fewer crowds and carry cash for smaller vendors.
6. Water-Fun at Hidropark
We spent a day here, the kids loved it and so did we. It was right outside our hotel and we could see it from our balcony and could hear the enjoyment from everyone.

For families, or just big kids there is the Hidropark water-park at Port d’Alcúdia featuring slides, pools, fun for a day away from the sunbathing routine. Great way to break up beach days and give the kids, or you some adrenaline. Arrive early. Bring swim-shoes if you don’t like hot surfaces.
Final Thoughts
Whether your focus is history, beach time, nature or shopping, Alcudia gives you all of that. We thoroughly enjoy our stay here and there is plenty to do for everyone. Highly recommend a visit here and we will defiantly be back soon.
