Welcome

Full Throttle Family Fun: Our Day at Hednesford Hills Raceway

On Sunday 3rd May we spent the day at Hednesford Hills Raceway with our friends and the kids and honestly, it turned into one of those full-on family adventures you wish you’d planned sooner.

Tucked away in the rolling landscape of Cannock Chase lies one of Britain’s most iconic short-circuit racing venues: Hednesford Hills Raceway. For generations of motorsport fans, the raceway has been more than just a track it’s a place where roaring engines, flying mudguards, and adrenaline-fuelled chaos combine to create unforgettable days of entertainment.

From the moment we arrived, you could feel the buzz in the air, engines roaring, crowds cheering, and that unmistakable smell of fuel in the air. The kids were instantly hooked. Seeing the cars up close made everything feel louder, faster, and way more exciting than anything you see on TV. There’s just something about the atmosphere that pulls you straight in.

We got there a bit early, The kids loved getting close to the cars it made the whole experience feel more real and personal. You don’t just watch the races here, you feel like you’re part of it.

Once we found a good viewing spot, we settled in with snacks while the races got underway. Something going on every which way you looked, tight overtakes, spins, a bit of bumper-to-bumper action, and those last-lap moments that had everyone shouting and cheering. It’s the kind of place where you quickly find yourself clapping along with complete strangers.

The kids loved the final race with all the caravans in, watching them smash into one another or trying to avoid been the first to go out the race.

After the racing finished, we weren’t quite ready to call it a day. We grabbed some food at the pub, had a proper sit down, and chatted about our favourite moments. There’s something really nice about stretching the day out instead of rushing straight home.

What really stood out was how family-friendly everything felt. There was plenty of space, a relaxed atmosphere, and lots of other families there doing exactly the same thing just enjoying time together. It didn’t feel stressful or overwhelming, which makes such a difference when you’re out with kids.

By the end of it, we had tired kids, full stomachs, and that happy kind of exhaustion that comes from a really good day out. The kind where everyone falls asleep on the way home and you realise it was 100% worth it.

It’s one of those days that feels simple but ends up being properly memorable. If you’re looking for something a bit different that mixes excitement, fresh air, and proper family time, this is definitely one to add to your list. We’ll absolutely be going back!
