5 Healthy ingredients to Add to Any Meal

Healthy eating is one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself. There are so many advantages to eating healthy foods, including a strong immune system, strong body, and plenty of energy. However, it’s not always easy to get into the habit of eating well.

When life is busy and you have a family to feed, you may fall into a pattern of cooking what’s easy. Perhaps there are a few particularly unhealthy meals that please everyone. If you’re looking to improve your eating habits, here are some ingredients that work with everything.

Spinach

Spinach is a really healthy ingredient. It’s one of those greens that can give your body a great boost. It’s also a food you can add to many different meals without it spoiling the delicious taste.

For example, spinach goes great on pizza and you’ll barely notice it’s there. You can also add it to bolognese or curry. Just chop it up finely and add it to the sauce.

Similarly, spinach is ideal in smoothies. Add it to any fruit smoothie and gain the benefits without any hassle.

Olive Oil

If you’re cooking at home, choose Kyneton olive oil above anything else. It’s a far healthier alternative to vegetable oil or butter. Although it can be more expensive, you only need a dash in the pan before you start cooking.

You can also use a quality olive oil as a dressing for salad. So, if you’re watching your weight but you want a tasty topping for your side dish, olive oil works perfectly on a salad.

Vegetable Mash

A big dollop of potato mash at the side of your meal is always tasty but it isn’t always the healthiest. If you’re eating mashed potato when you’re dining out, it’s probably coming with a bucket load of butter, salt, and even sugar in some cases.

Try swapping your potato mash for a vegetable mash instead. You could opt for sweet potato, carrot, swede, butternut squash, and many others. It’s better if you make it at home so you know exactly what’s going in it.

Salad

It’s easy to put a salad on a side plate with any meal. The hard part is getting into the habit of doing it and pleasing everyone. If you have young children at home, salad can be a great starter to keep them quiet before a meal.

Make it interesting by using the salad pieces to create a face on their plates or giving them a dip with cucumber or celery.

Berries

Berries are the perfect addition to any desert. You can add berries to jelly, cake, ice cream, trifle, and many more. You can even sprinkle them on top of your pancakes in the morning.

Berries are quick and easy to add to deserts so you know the whole family is getting a good dose of vitamins and nutrients. Berries are excellent fighters of bacteria so they’re ideal for school age children.
