WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS to the NEC Festive gift fair

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year – minus the cold weather.  I try to persuade my OH Tom to let me put the tree and decorations up as early as possible in the run up to the big day – I always win that one.

Last year I headed over to the festive gift fair at the NEC birmingham with my mum for a mother and daughter day after I won tickets, and to see what goodies I could get my hands on to decorate our house for our first proper christmas in our new home.  It looked great fun and would most certainly put you in the mood for christmas.

We arrived just after it opened and went straight in with no waiting around, at first glance it was packed, and it was beautifully decorated with lots of christmas decorations and toys, I felt like a little kid in a toy shop.

I found and brought some tree decorations and a extendable snowman, which I though were super cute.

‘Be my bear’ Review

I have always, ever since I was a little girl loved teddies, My mum and dad brought me a big brown bear when I was 2 and he was bigger than me, I still have him to this day, but my nephew Jack took a liking to him so I said he could look after him for me.

My nephew has also always loved teddies since he was little too, I think it is an essential part of their development in life that every child has a special teddy as they grow up.

When bemybear got in contact and offered me the opportunity to review one of their sets I couldn’t resist.

In our kit we were sent there was:

  • 1 x Ping Panda Kit 16″ – Retail price of £9.95
  • 1 x Halloween Pumpkin outfit 12/16″ – Retail price £8.99
  • 1 x Teddy Bear passport  – Retail price £4.00

Jack couldn’t wait to start making his Ping the panda, we put the items on the table ready.

I started by helping pulling the stuffing apart so Jack could put it in the arms and legs of the panda as he had the smallest hands.  We made sure we put enough stuffing in the arms and legs that he was super squiddy and huggable but not to firm.

One of the last things we had to do was for Jack to make a wish with the little star and pop it inside Ping the panda and then stitch him up.

img_7207 img_7209 img_7210

He kept the wish secret, so it would come true.

Once Jack had finished making his wish it was time to stitch up panda and get him dress up in his outfit ready for halloween coming up.

How cute is our little Ping the panda, Can I keep him instead please?

Then it was finally time to get him dressed

img_7218 img_7219 img_7220 img_7221

Our finished and dressed Ping the panda.

Jack absolutely loved making Ping and he now goes everywhere with him.

These would make fantastic present for any kids, and I don’t think the price is too bad either.

Gordon’s Great Escape Book Review

My nephew loves nothing more than myself, or my mum and dad reading him a bedside story every night.

When I was contacted and offered a book to review that wasn’t even released yet I immediately said yes.

My nephew Jack has got another book from this collection called “Barry the fish with fingers” which he loves, so this book was an exciting addition to his ever growing collection.

He is happy just sitting and reading by himself or reading to us if we ask.

The book contains lots of bright colourful pictures so is great for kids learning.

img_7241 img_7242

The book is ages 3+ so maybe was a little on the easy side but he loved reading it and loves that sort of genre of book.  Would recommend this book to parents and kids.

You can purchase this book following it been published on the 20th October 2016. Gordon great escape or pre-order yours from amazon here

Kids Oyster Mushroom’s Growing Kit Review

Grow your own oyster mushrooms in 3 easy steps

How does it work?

We start the process off at GroCycle Urban Mushroom Farm by mixing recycled coffee grounds with Oyster mushroom spawn under ideal conditions. We then ship a kit out to you for the fun part!

  • 3 Easy steps: cut hole in bag, spray water daily & watch them grow
  • First harvest approx. 2 weeks after opening
  • Soak overnight and repeat for another couple of crops

See what we thought below.

We are a family who love the great outdoors and each year we try and attempt to grow our own fruit and veg.  This year, we have tried to grow runner beans, mini corn, tomato’s, peppers and cucumbers.  I have had 2 cucumbers off my plants, few tomatoes (but more to come), no peppers sadly and the corn is still growing.

When grocycle got in contact and asked if we wanted to review and grow our very own oyster mushrooms we couldn’t say no.  I have never really liked mushrooms, don’t know what it is about them but I have tried them many times and just can’t eat them.

The parcel arrived a few weeks later but was left outside my house in the pouring rain but luckily it survived and no damage was sustained to the packet inside the box.

My nephew Jack was super excited to help me set this up and watch it grow.

Day 1 – Receiving the pack and set up of the kit

We then had to unpack it and made a cross in the plastic without damaging the soil and submerged & soaked overnight in water.  I had to place the dogs ceramic bowl on top to keep the pack under the water.

IMG_6874 IMG_6875 IMG_6876

Morning arrived, and I drained the bag and placed it back in the box as required.  I placed it on the window sill in the kitchen where it would get light but not direct sunlight to help and allow the mushrooms to grow.

Days 1-7 – We started seeing sprouts and movement in the soil.  My nephew loves mushrooms and was super excited to see and watch them grow.

IMG_6921 IMG_6922

Day 8+ – We harvested the mushrooms that had grown ready to eat throughout the next few days.  We got 2/3 big harvest of mushrooms off it.

Once we had harvested all the mushrooms, we left the box as suggested for 2 weeks, then started watering it again and we started the growing process all over again.

We have now harvest all the mushrooms and will leave the box alone for 2 weeks and start the process all over again.

Day 1-7 – The mushrooms started growing again, which was really exciting.

Day 8+ – We didn’t get as many mushrooms the second time round but we got a few so once we picked them, that was it, no more home-grown mushrooms.

This was fascinating process to watch and I would buy these again to grow.

It is fascinating how mushrooms can grow from coffee like this, and all recycled, great for the environment.

Don’t forget if you would like to get your hands on your very own growing kit visit their website here, the kits start from £16.00 each.

Topsy and Tim’s Book Review

My nephew loved watching Topsy & Tim on the TV when he was younger, but still loves them now and has them recorded on the TV box, he insists on watching it over and over again, even though he maybe a little on the old side now at 8 years old he still loves it.

When we received the books I didn’t realise how young they would be and at 3+ they were a little too easy for Jack, but none the less was excited to receive them and have a flick through them.

He loves anything to do with activity books that includes stickers, matching, colouring etc, keeps him busy for hours.

He sat down and read “The underground Dragon” to me, even though it was a little on the easy side and loved it.

You can find more of a selection of these Topsy & Tim books here plus lots more stories here also.

These books are great for kids and the age range starts from 0 months – 7 years.

* Disclaimer – I was sent these products free of charge for the purpose of this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pawsomebox September review

It can be hard to try and find different toys for our dog to play with that won’t get destroyed easily,  but she doesn’t destroy many which is good.

Her favourite toy at the moment is a reindeer from christmas that we got her from pet at home, but is safe to say has seen better day.  When pawsomebox got in contact and sent us a box of goodies for Carly she couldn’t wait to see what was inside and get her teeth into it.

IMG_7101In our september box we received the following items:

Carly’s favourite toy is the pink squeaky dog toy, she takes it everywhere with her, even brings it to bed.  She does the cutest thing too, after she has played with it and we’ve thrown it round, she will just lie there and lick it for ages as if to make it feel better for hurting it.

Carly loves the treats aswell.  We would definitely buy this subscription box again as each month you get lots of different toys and treats etc… and is great for your dog.

* We were sent this box free of charge for the purpose of this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

‘Bark bite’ Dog treats review

Enough about us for now it’s our dog Carly’s turn to have a bit of the spotlight.

She is one very spoilt dog!

When bark bites got in contact and offered us one of their tasty treat subscriptions box to review, Carly went barking mad.

Carly was very excited to receive her treats as you can see.  Bark bite treats are great because they fit straight through your letter box,so you don’t have to worry about been in the house. You can choose from over 48 different hand baked treat to suit your dog from here your dog will be spoilt for choice.

I didn’t know what treats we were going to receive either, but you can handpick your own too.  There are different treats for different aspects of the dog, eg. Coat & Skin, digestion etc and you can pick the treats that best suit your dogs needs.  This is what we received in our subscription box.

IMG_6972 IMG_6974

Well as you can see Carly was a big fan of the treats she was sent, and would have possibly polished them off all in one go if we had let her.

Look at the smile on her face, one happy puppy dog.

You have 2 options for delivery which is great:

1) A box of treats per week for as little as £5.49

2) Fortnightly for as little as £5.99 every 2 weeks

I think these prices are good, for what you get, and I will certainly buying more for Carly in the future.

* We were sent this box of treats for the purpose of a review, however all thoughts, pictures and opinions are my own.

Brite brush sonic on the go review

I have always worried about my teeth, and have always struggled with issues no matter how much I look after them or how many times I brush them in a day and it does get me down and it’s certainly the part of me that I hate the most.

I have always felt you should invest as much as you can in your teeth. Dental work isn’t cheap and can turn out very expensive if not looked after properly, not to mention pretty unpleasant at times! A little time and money spent now, could prevent a lot of pain, and even more money spent, later on. It’s also reassuring to know you are doing the best for your teeth. You only get one adult set, after all – Isn’t that enough to convince you?!

When I was offered this “brite brush, sonic on the go” pocket sized toothbrush to review from Brite brush I immediately said yes, especially now I have braces.

It arrived a few weeks after completing the order, it arrived in a rather large box for the size of  box that the product actually came in.

When it arrived I couldn’t wait to open it and get it out and see what it looked liked and what colour I had been sent.

From just looking at it you wouldn’t know it was a toothbrush, maybe a pop  our blusher brush, but that’s what I love about it is hidden away, kept clean and hygenic in a case of its own.  It is great to just pop in my handbag, it fits perfectly in my smallest bag and being able to just carry it around and use it whenever I need.

All it requires is 1 x AAA battery to work and the bottom easily twists off to replace it.

Nutri Fill-It Review

I’ve always been a healthy eater, with the occasional “fat” moment where I bing out on chocolate and unhealthy food, but can’t be the only one, right?

Well I am trying to get back on track with being good, eating healthy food and doing plenty of exercise and even more so now than ever as I’ve got under 12 months to lose a few stone/pounds for my wedding day next year.  I have tried lots of things but nothing seems to stick with me.

When I was contacted by Eat well UK to trial out there new reusable pouches I couldn’t say no.  I have tried to make my own smooth’s and shakes before but haven’t always turned out the best – these were the answers to my troubles.

How does it work?

Its easy, just follow 3 simple steps….

1. Blend It – buy your healthy, favourite, fresh ingredients and make a batch of delicious, nutritious, smoothies/yoghurts etc – I love my beville smoothie maker, it’s amazing and so easy to use.

In my smoothie I put strawberry’s, blueberries, raspberries and cranberry juice.

2. Fill It – pour your smoothies directly into your Nutri Fill-It pouches, seal the bottom with the ‘anti-leak’ Double Zip Lock and store in the fridge or freezer.  be sure to hold it tight while pouring so you dont drop it or spill any.

I put ours in the freezer for a couple of hours so it would stay cold while we were at work.  They don’t take up much space either as they are compact sizes.

Grab a pouch and go (an added bonus is your pouch acts as an ice pack keeping other lunch / snack items cool)!

3. Re-use It – after you have enjoyed your nutritious treat simply rinse out your pouch or place it in the dishwasher (top shelf open over 2 prongs) ready for the next use.  Due to its curved shape it is also easy to clean by hand under running water with a bottle brush

Nutri Fill-It can be re-used up to 100 times.

I absolutely love these pouches and would definitely buy more of these and make bulk amounts of my favourite homemade smoothies.

* I was sent a pack of 2 pouches free of charge for the purpose of this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Good for you” Healthy snacks review

The new school term has started, the kids are back at school now or most of them are and it’s back to organising packed lunches or school meals.  I know with my nephew how hard it is to get him to make his mind up about what he wants in his packed lunches including healthy things.

When Good4U got in touch and offered to send us some snacks I automatically said yes.  We received a package and opened it straight away and saw this cute this bag first of all.

How cute is this cool bag the snacks came in.

In the bag I received 5 of each of the 2 newest flavours of “Good4u” snacks.

I gave a couple of packets to my nephew to try and I kept the rest.

Unfortunately my nephew didn’t like them, stating he didn’t like the texture or the flavours.  I also tried them and again sadly the texture and flavours were not to my liking.
