Well I’ve had a pretty manic week, I had a business trip to London for work for training and stayed overnight in a lovely 4* hotel, then trying to play catch up when I returned to work on all the emails. I can’t believe we are now nearly at the end of January. already where has this month gone.
This is the first time I am joining in with Little Loves on Coffee Work Sleep Repeat. The idea behind of this is to think about the little things that I have loved this week.
This week I have read my kindle everyday on the train to and from work and when I had to go on a business trip to London for 2 days. I have always loved reading and wouldn’t be without my kindle now it is so easy to just pick up and put in my handbag and transport from place to place. I have also read a lot of paperwork while on my business trip.
I haven’t watched much TV this week other than the new Benidorm series since it has come back on the TV absolutely love it, I’m not much of a TV person but I was excited when I heard this TV show was making an appearance back on the big screen as it is a comedy show.
Lots of work clothes, and plenty of warm ones at that since the weather has been really cold, snowy and icy. My ear muffs came out too.
I haven’t got any pictures but I make my own handmade cards and crafts and as I had a couple of birthdays I decided to made some birthday cards. You can see all the cards I have made here KimzKardz
I’ve heard music as I listen to Capital FM while working, and hearing about Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield turning up to This morning the day after ther night before still a little bit worse for ware from the National Television Awards.
Unfortuantly I don’t have anything to write here this week as it has been a crazy week, so I am going to leave it there for now.
How was your week?
Hands up if you love animals? ……… Me! Me! I do. Anyone that knows me will tell you that too.
Pets have always been a massive part of my life ever since I was a little girl. My mum and dad always had goldfish in the garden in a pond that was made out of an old bath that was embedded in stones with a wall built around it. I used to love feeding them and watching them swimming around.
I have had all sorts of different pets while growing up, Goldfish, hamsters (Syrian & Russian), A Tortoise, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and a dog. My first pet was a Syrian hamster called Frisky that mum and dad brought me for my birthday as a surprise, he was amazing, used to love running up the stairs and loved climbing up his cage, playing and eating. He was white and tan in colour. Unfortunately, hamsters only live till they are around 2 – 2 & half years old, but they are great pets to have and are very fun to watch.
Then one day I decided to go and buy a tortoise as I aways wanted one. I had Terri for around 3 and half years then sadly he went to sleep and never woke up again. Used to love watching him walk around the room, eat and give him baths.
My rabbits – Christmas, Smudge, Pumpkin and Autumn. Christmas was a stray at just 3 weeks old that had been handed into my friend’s workplace and he had a poorly eye so I nursed him back to good health and gave him a loving home after as I couldn’t re home him as fell in love with him and his character. Then came Smudge (a girlfriend for Christmas), I rehomed her from someone who couldn’t look after her anymore. But sadly Smudge had to be put to sleep as she became poorly in October 2013 after just 4 months of me rehoming her. I then adopted Pumpkin from Pets at home in October 2013 and then after just a week of having her she gave birth to little Autumn. Pumpkin sadly passed away in April 2015 after struggling with weight loss and found out she had kidney failure.
This is our Dog Called Carly, She is a Rottweiler and we rehomed her from a friend who was moving house and couldn’t take her with her. She is 4 years old and great with other animals and kids. She is a perfect dog in every way, she is fine when been left while we go to work and is a great guard dog but most of all is the most lovable and affectionate four-legged friend every.
Do you have any pets? Would love to hear and see pictures of yours.
Every year there is a conversation started around the beginning of December about will my mum be making her amazing truffles this year, Well of course the answer is always yes. They have become a real hit with all our family and friends and they are usually devoured in minutes.
I couldn’t even tell you how or when it even started but I know something it is one of the best thing my mum has started and I think alot of family and friends will agree too. Since moving out last year I decided I would start making them as well because they are quite easy to make. So I thought I would kindly share the recipe with you all below too.
What you will need:
- 8oz Bournville or dark chocolate
- 4 tablespoons of Brandy
- 3oz Margarine
- 4oz Icing Sugar (Sived)
- 4oz Ground Almond
What to do:
- Break up the chocolate and melt in a bowl over a pan of boiling water, when it starts melting add the margarine and then the Brandy, keep stiring it.
- While that is melting, get another bowl and put the ground almonds in and then Sive the icing sugar, stiring them all together.
- Slowly add the ground almonds and Icing Sugar to the chocolate mix bit by bit making sure it is all mixed in together.
- Once it is all mixed in leave the mixture to cool for around 10 – 15minutes or until firm enough to roll into balls.
- Finally roll into chocolate hundred and thousands, and place in the mini cake cases.
This is the end product and I have to say they are delicious and Rachel at Parenthood highs and lows would say the same.
Would love to hear your thoughts if you have a go at making these.
Surely now it’s not to early to start talking about the ‘C ‘ word. YES CHRISTMAS!
Christmas is my favourite time of year, ever since I was a little kid I would never be able to sleep on Christmas Eve. I would always start putting the Christmas decorations up at my parents as soon as the 1st December arrived. I would always keep going on at my mum and dad about going to pick the Christmas tree up every opportunity I had I was that excited. Ever since I have known we have always had a real Christmas tree. I Just love the smell of them, makes it feel proper Christmassy (even if the needles do sometimes drop)
I usually start planning my Christmas present list, working out what to get friends and family, thinking about writing and posting my Christmas cards and starting to make my handmade Christmas cards from about beginning of November.
Last year 2014 we had just moved into our first home before Christmas so didn’t have a lot of time to get many decorations etc, we were given a Christmas tree and some decorations and I managed to buy a few baubles and lights but this year 2015 I am starting early and getting organised.
This was our first Christmas tree
I love real Christmas trees especially the smell, I know they do drop needles sometimes and can be a pain but it is what makes it feel more Christmassy to me. Between me and my fiance we have 4 nephews, youngest is 12 months and eldest is 7 years, and as you can imagine they get very excited about Christmas so we have to make sure we are ready and prepared well in advance.
On top of getting ready for Christmas I then start making my hand crafted cards and I have been lucky enough to be able to sell them at a couple of Christmas fayre’s, one was at my nephews school and the other was at a nursery, I did quite well at these and sold lots of my cards and was asked to also make a couple of personalised ones for baby’s 1st Christmas.
I have sold my cards to family members too, I really enjoy making my cards and they are unique and you won’t find anything around like them. I tend to start making my Christmas cards around end of October after the mad rush of birthdays in the family.
You can find pictures of all my cards on my Facebook page at KimzKardz.
All cards are available to purchase, you can contact via email Kimzkardz@btinternet.com or on my “contact me” page on here.
Well what can I say…where has October gone?
Every year October is one of my worst (in the nicest way) and not forgetting expensive months of all. It starts off with all the Best people’s birthday’s, Mine, my fiance, my sister in Law, My sister in-laws partners, and their son’s birthday. We also have lots of other friends aswell who celebrate their birthday’s in October.
Then we had the build up to Halloween and as an Auntie to 4 nephews, I know the eldest ones gets very excited about it so this year I invited my nephews over to do a weekend of Halloween crafts, we did pumpkin carving and made lots of different Halloween crafts that we found on Pinterest. You can find almost anything on Pinterest by just searching in the box at the top.
Here are our finished pumpkins (Little help from the adults)
We also made some jumping jack Pumpkins with springy legs.
The boys had great fun cutting the pumpkin shapes out of orange card (with supervision from the adults because scissors are sharp) and then colouring them in and drawing different funny/scary faces on them. We stuck a lollipop stick on the back and then created some springy legs and arms out of paper by folding it and stuck them on using prit stick.
We all had great fun making crafts and the boys were shattered at the end of the day.
What did you do in October and get up to for Halloween?
