Project Home: Rennovation Tips For When You Purchase A DIY Project

Buying a home is just one of those stressful things we all hope to go through at some point in our lives. We all want that investment and stability but have to deal with a whole heap of stress and paperwork to get us there. So what happens if your dream home needs a little love? We can’t all help that feeling we get when we walk through the door of a potential new home. We either love it or hate it. So falling in love with a renovation project isn’t always the easiest things to do. But I’m here to offer you a few tips and advice. I hope it helps you if you have jumped into a DIY project.

Make sure you get planning for any extensions you do

Anything other than a lean to or conservatory will require some planning permission from your local council offices. It’s more paperwork I admit, but it’s one of those things you simply cannot avoid. Many people take on renovation projects in the hope of building up or out, so permission is something that will need to be granted. You will also be best to seek the services of an architect to draw up plans. Getting this right the first time is essential for a smooth process.,_Bulgarians_renovate_kindergarten.JPG?resize=604%2C403&ssl=1

Research out the materials you want to use

You may want to do some work inside as well as building outwards. So it’s important to consider all your material options. Researching Timber Merchants or other materials like sustainable or eco friendly alternatives would be advisable. It is better done at the early planning stage. Some people who are particularly good at building may want to use these materials to build cabinets or even the kitchen.

Don’t stick to the original layout if it isn’t workable

When it comes to your project, try and think outside of the box. If the layout doesn’t work for modern day living, don’t be afraid to switch things around. Kitchens always work well overlooking the gardens but in some older houses, they were built at the front. Being creative with your design and making it work for you is vital to stay motivated within the renovation process. It can be long and stressful.

Remember the kitchen and bathroom are the most desirable rooms

It is always worth remembering that the kitchen and bathrooms add the most value. So make sure you invest both some budget and your time into these rooms. Whether you are selling or living in this renovation project, those rooms are not only the most valuable but the most used.

Have a budget in place and a contingency fund just in case

Finally, make sure you have a budget in place and don’t forget that contingency fund. The likelihood is that your project is going to unearth some unforeseen problems. It could be anything from a leaky roof to foundation issues. That contingency fund is there for those emergencies, ensuring you can stay on track with your budget.

I hope these tips help you if you have purchased a DIY project.

Add Some Creativity To Your Wedding With These 4 Pieces Of Advice

I love getting creative, and there is no better time than when you are planning your wedding. After all, it’s an excellent way to add a personal touch to your day and make it stand out from other big days. Therefore, here are five pieces of advice to add some creativity to your wedding day.

Make your own wedding favours

Wedding favors can end up costing you a fortune if you have a lot of guests at the wedding. Therefore, you should consider making your own wedding favors for your guests. It’s easy to find items around your house that you can easily make into fun wedding favors. For example, you could fill old glasses or cups with sweets to make a tasty treat for them to take home. Or you could even look for old books in your home which you could give away as wedding favors! You could even make some scented candles which you can give away as gifts. Get creative and they will be pleasantly surprised with the gift.

Create your own save the dates and wedding invites

It can be hard to make your save the dates and wedding invites stand out from the crowd when there are lots of weddings occurring. You could make your own so that they are unique to you and your partner. Buy some card and then design your invites with plenty of glue glitter and stickers to make them fun and unique. Some people use an old postcard and then cover it with beautiful material to make lovely DIY save the dates or wedding invites. Or if you aren’t that creative, you could even design some personalised wedding stationery so that they are unique for your wedding. You can find many companies online who will make it totally personal to your wedding theme.

Make some fun signs and bunting for your venue

One of the best parts of planning your wedding is deciding on all the great decor for your venue. After all, it’s the best way to create a day which is fitting for you and your partner. You can get creative by making some fun signs which you can put in the venue. For example, you might want to create cool signs explaining where facilities are. You could even make some bunting which you can decorate the venue with. To make it more unique, get members of the wedding party to all design some bunting. Once they are ready, you can attach them to some string and make your venue stand out.

Get creative with your table accessories

You should also not hesitate to make the tables in your venue unique for your big day. We talked in this blog about creating a great tablescape for your wedding. You might want to choose colorful napkins which will ensure it is suitable for your theme. Also, you can also add some fun table names and place cards which stand out from the crowd. As this article says, add a handwritten note to each place card to make each guest feel appreciated that they made the wedding!

Don’t hesitate to write your own wedding vows to add some creativity to your wedding day. You could even create them into a backdrop, so that everyone can see them during the ceremony!

Topsy and Tim’s Book Review

My nephew loved watching Topsy & Tim on the TV when he was younger, but still loves them now and has them recorded on the TV box, he insists on watching it over and over again, even though he maybe a little on the old side now at 8 years old he still loves it.

When we received the books I didn’t realise how young they would be and at 3+ they were a little too easy for Jack, but none the less was excited to receive them and have a flick through them.

He loves anything to do with activity books that includes stickers, matching, colouring etc, keeps him busy for hours.

He sat down and read “The underground Dragon” to me, even though it was a little on the easy side and loved it.

You can find more of a selection of these Topsy & Tim books here plus lots more stories here also.

These books are great for kids and the age range starts from 0 months – 7 years.

Pawsomebox September review

It can be hard to try and find different toys for our dog to play with that won’t get destroyed easily,  but she doesn’t destroy many which is good.

Her favourite toy at the moment is a reindeer from christmas that we got her from pet at home, but is safe to say has seen better day.  When pawsomebox got in contact and sent us a box of goodies for Carly she couldn’t wait to see what was inside and get her teeth into it.

IMG_7101In our september box we received the following items:

Carly’s favourite toy is the pink squeaky dog toy, she takes it everywhere with her, even brings it to bed.  She does the cutest thing too, after she has played with it and we’ve thrown it round, she will just lie there and lick it for ages as if to make it feel better for hurting it.

Carly loves the treats aswell.  We would definitely buy this subscription box again as each month you get lots of different toys and treats etc… and is great for your dog.

She is one very spoilt dog!

When bark bites got in contact and offered us one of their tasty treat subscriptions box to review, Carly went barking mad.

Carly was very excited to receive her treats as you can see.  Bark bite treats are great because they fit straight through your letter box,so you don’t have to worry about been in the house. I didn’t know what treats we were going to receive either, but you can handpick your own too.  There are different treats for different aspects of the dog, eg. Coat & Skin, digestion etc and you can pick the treats that best suit your dogs needs.  This is what we received in our subscription box.

Well as you can see Carly was a big fan of the treats she was sent, and would have possibly polished them off all in one go if we had let her.

Look at the smile on her face, one happy puppy dog.

You have 2 options for delivery which is great:

1) A box of treats per week for as little as £5.49

2) Fortnightly for as little as £5.99 every 2 weeks

I think these prices are good, for what you get, and I will certainly buying more for Carly in the future.

Brite brush sonic on the go review

I have always worried about my teeth, and have always struggled with issues no matter how much I look after them or how many times I brush them in a day and it does get me down and it’s certainly the part of me that I hate the most.

I have always felt you should invest as much as you can in your teeth. Dental work isn’t cheap and can turn out very expensive if not looked after properly, not to mention pretty unpleasant at times! A little time and money spent now, could prevent a lot of pain, and even more money spent, later on. It’s also reassuring to know you are doing the best for your teeth. You only get one adult set, after all – Isn’t that enough to convince you?!

When I was offered this “brite brush, sonic on the go” pocket sized toothbrush to review from Brite brush I immediately said yes, especially now I have braces.

It arrived a few weeks after completing the order, it arrived in a rather large box for the size of  box that the product actually came in.

When it arrived I couldn’t wait to open it and get it out and see what it looked liked and what colour I had been sent.

From just looking at it you wouldn’t know it was a toothbrush, maybe a pop  our blusher brush, but that’s what I love about it is hidden away, kept clean and hygenic in a case of its own.  It is great to just pop in my handbag, it fits perfectly in my smallest bag and being able to just carry it around and use it whenever I need.

All it requires is 1 x AAA battery to work and the bottom easily twists off to replace it.

Nutri Fill-It Review

I’ve always been a healthy eater, with the occasional “fat” moment where I bing out on chocolate and unhealthy food, but can’t be the only one, right?

Well I am trying to get back on track with being good, eating healthy food and doing plenty of exercise and even more so now than ever as I’ve got under 12 months to lose a few stone/pounds for my wedding day next year.  I have tried lots of things but nothing seems to stick with me.

When I was contacted by Eat well UK to trial out there new reusable pouches I couldn’t say no.  I have tried to make my own smooth’s and shakes before but haven’t always turned out the best – these were the answers to my troubles.

How does it work?

Its easy, just follow 3 simple steps….

1. Blend It – buy your healthy, favourite, fresh ingredients and make a batch of delicious, nutritious, smoothies/yoghurts etc – I love my beville smoothie maker, it’s amazing and so easy to use.

In my smoothie I put strawberry’s, blueberries, raspberries and cranberry juice.

2. Fill It – pour your smoothies directly into your Nutri Fill-It pouches, seal the bottom with the ‘anti-leak’ Double Zip Lock and store in the fridge or freezer.  be sure to hold it tight while pouring so you dont drop it or spill any.

I put ours in the freezer for a couple of hours so it would stay cold while we were at work.  They don’t take up much space either as they are compact sizes.

Grab a pouch and go (an added bonus is your pouch acts as an ice pack keeping other lunch / snack items cool)!

3. Re-use It – after you have enjoyed your nutritious treat simply rinse out your pouch or place it in the dishwasher (top shelf open over 2 prongs) ready for the next use.  Due to its curved shape it is also easy to clean by hand under running water with a bottle brush

Nutri Fill-It can be re-used up to 100 times.

I absolutely love these pouches and would definitely buy more of these and make bulk amounts of my favourite homemade smoothies.

* I was sent a pack of 2 pouches free of charge for the purpose of this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jumping the waves #Mysundayphoto

A few weeks ago now we went to North Wales for the weekend to see my fiance’s parents while they were on holiday.  We took our dog Carly as she had never been to the beach/Sea before and we weren’t sure what she would be like.  As you can see she absolutely loved the sea, so much so that on occasions we couldn’t get her out of it.  She was one happy doggy in the sea.

“Good for you” Healthy snacks review

The new school term has started, the kids are back at school now or most of them are and it’s back to organising packed lunches or school meals.  I know with my nephew how hard it is to get him to make his mind up about what he wants in his packed lunches including healthy things.

When Good4U got in touch and offered to send us some snacks I automatically said yes.  We received a package and opened it straight away and saw this cute this bag first of all.

How cute is this cool bag the snacks came in.

In the bag I received 5 of each of the 2 newest flavours of “Good4u” snacks.

I gave a couple of packets to my nephew to try and I kept the rest.

Unfortunately my nephew didn’t like them, stating he didn’t like the texture or the flavours.  I also tried them and again sadly the texture and flavours were not to my liking.
